First - I never planned to buy a property in Spain. Well - not in 2019. I had done lots of research, and had a good idea of what I wanted. I decided to contact 3 real estate companies, and set up some preliminary home visits - just to see what might be possible. No intent to buy. CITRINE was our first contact in Spain. Eileen and I had a pact - no high pressure sales. It tuned out to be a nonstarter. Our rep, Nick,- was professional, informative and - dare I say - straightforward about rental potential and value for investment. We saw potential and put in a bid.
We had many questions - about the real estate collapse in 2008, tax policies towards non-Spaniards, and cultural differences between Belgium, my home country, and southern Spain. I am inquisitive by nature. Nick convincingly answered all of our inquiries.
Over 10 days, we viewed 15 properties, 10 of which were Citrine properties. We narrowed it to two, then to one. Citrine helped us through the negotiations, and ensured us a fair deal. I always felt that they were on our side.
I don't typically lavish praise on private services - as I am too cheap and cynical - but in this case I was impressed. These folks are consummate professionals, and a delight to work with. They fully supported me as an American investor (which is increasingly and understandably hard to justify in the present climate). I got fair treatment.
Citrine suggested that I retain SGM Legal/Spain as counsel. They have proven to be an excellent source of advocacy. I cannot recommend them too highly.
We feel fortunate to have worked with CITRINE in Ciudad Quesda. These folks are the best. Highly recommended.
